Competitive C/BN/BI/BA/A
COACH RECOMMENDED
For competitive athletes who are beginning or continuing in the competitive stream, these programs offer training and guidance to the advanced levels of the sport. Athletes will continue to work on the CBTF Badge skills and tests as required.
Included in the baton schedule will be Solo, 2-Baton, 3-Baton, Medley and Group(s), although it is highly recommended to have routines stylized outside of class time. Solo Dance Twirl, Duet, Freestyle, Pair, Compulsories and any Nation Cup events will be optional and billed separately through private instruction or extra classes.
Participation is mandatory to all club voted competitions (2-3 local and 3-4 out of town competitions). Athletes will be prepared for competitions at the provincial level and those eligible will take part in the national level events as well. Participation at competitions is mandatory at this level as is participation in their respective Dance Twirl Group.
Rolls & Compulsories
COACH RECOMMENDED
The focus of this class is rolls, compulsories and/or short program.
Rolls are a mode of baton twirling that balance, revolve and move the baton on and around the body without the security of gripping the baton in the hands. Rolls require precise placement and pattern and generally need a little extra practice time for the athletes to become confident and consistent in this area of baton twirling.
Compulsories and Short Program are mandatory events for any athlete who is competing in the freestyle event. The written descriptions for these events are very detailed and the athletes strive to perform each skill as close to the written description as possible.
Freestyle Training
COACH RECOMMENDED
Freestyle is an event where the routine is performed individually on the entire gym floor to the athlete's own piece of music. The athlete is being judged on technical merit and artistic expression in your combination of the 3 modes of twirling (contact, rolls, and aerials).
This class will work on the technical and artistic aspects of your freestyle routine (must be choreographed outside of this class in private lessons). If you have not yet achieved your gold pin (mandatory to compete freestyle) then this class can also work on badges/pin leading up to the gold pin (with coach recommendation), as well as skills needed for the freestyle event.
