COVID-19 has changed our world, and the sport of baton twirling is no exception. ASHT will be following the government guidelines along with our venues’ rules with regard to COVID19. Hand sanitizer and wipes will be on hand.
Masks are to be worn in and out of our venues and your twirler is welcome (but it is not mandatory) to wear one while twirling if they choose.
Taelyr PattonHEAD COACH - Baton & Acro
Miss Taelyr has participated in twirling since she was 9. She was part of a Canadian team that won Gold in 2008 and 2009 (Ireland & Australia). In 2012 she was invited to be part of a "Trans-Canada Team" with athletes from across the country. They competed at the World Championships in Paris, France and finished in 5th place. In 2015, at her 6th international competition, alongside her pair partner from Halifax, she received a Silver medal. Her certifications include Level 2 NCCP Accredited Coach, CBTF Certified Coach and Acrobatic Arts Module 1 & 2 Certified Teacher. She graduated from the University of Calgary where she earned her Bachelor of Sociology.
Loren DermodySENIOR COACH - Baton, Rolls & Compulsories, Acro
Miss Loren has over 20 years of teaching experience. She studied at the University of Calgary completing her B.FA. in Dance Studies. Her certifications include Level 2 NCCP Accredited Coach, CBTF Certified Coach and Judge, WBTF Certified Judge, ADAPT Jazz and Tap Certified Teacher, Acrobatics Arts Certified Teacher and Examiner. In 2012 Miss Loren was awarded the Lynda Garland Award for Excellence from CBTF. She is also an inductee of the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame.
Meghan ShultzCOACH - Baton & Dance
Miss Meghan has participated in dance and baton for 8 years. Her proudest achievement was winning a gold medal for Canada with her Solo at International Cup 2017. She is a certified level 2 CBTF coach. She is enrolled at the University of Calgary.
Kendall PattonCOACH - Baton
Miss Kendall has been twirling for the past 14 years. She represented Canada at 3 International Cups between 2013 and 2017. The highlight was her gold medal performance with the IC Team "Mirror" in 2015. She is a certified level 2 CBTF coach.
Mikayla McDonaldCOACH - Baton
Miss Mikayla has competed in baton for the last 10 years, while also training in dance and acrobatics. During this time she represented Canada in a total of 3 international cup competitions (Canada, France, and Croatia) and a pan pacific cup (USA). One of her highlights in her twirling career is winning a gold medal at the 2015 international cup for team. Mikayla is a certified level 2 CBTF coach. She is currently enrolled at the University of Calgary.
Brooke MauroCOACH - Dance
As a competitive baton twirler, Miss Brooke has been involved in the sport of baton for 8 years and is so excited to expand her involvement through coaching this year! Growing up as a competitive dancer and baton twirler, Miss Brooke has represented Canada around the world at various international competitions! Miss Brooke currently has her Acrobatic Arts Preschool certification as well as her Module One certification. Alongside coaching with ASHT, Miss Brooke is continuing her baton twirling career and going to school at the University of Calgary for Law and Society. She is also teaching Acro dance at Elements Dance Co. and coaching baton twirling with Inspire Baton and Dance Company in Olds.
